The biceps brachii is an anterior flexor muscle that assists in movements of the shoulder, arm, elbow, and forearm. It consists of two heads: the long head is the lateral portion and the short head is the medial portion; it also includes the biceps brachii tendon. The long and short heads extend downward from the shoulder joint and merge mid-arm to form a large muscle belly that covers the anterior arm and elbow
joint.
