IKU™ Kettlebell Buddy

The IKU™ Kettlebell Buddy System works as follows. Members of our website may mark themselves as looking for a buddy and at the same time accept to be a buddy. When several buddies find a common interest whether that is a workout or training in a specific exercise, they will do that live in one of our many social media kettlebell communities or via a tool like Zoom, Messenger, Google Meet, Skype, etc.

How IKU™ Kettlebell Buddy Works

  • Create a free IKU™ account or become a member
  • Update your profile and mark yourself available as an IKU™ Kettlebell Buddy
  • Wait to be contacted or find others
  • Organize a meet-up day and time
  • Set a topic for the meet-up
  • Create the meet-up using one of the apps
  • Broadcast the meet-up on our website (optional)

Some important points to keep in mind when organizing a kettlebell meet-up:

  1. Make sure everyone knows the rules
  2. Set a clear focus for the meet-up
  3. Know your timezone and take those of others into consideration
  4. Structure your meet-up well
    • Decide/know who the host is
    • Welcome
    • Introductions
    • Warm-up or state that the warm-up should be done prior
    • Workout explanation or state that the workout should be understood prior
    • Strict start time
    • Strict end time
  5. Know the limitations of the app that you’re using
  6. Know what you’re doing when those limitations are reached

After setting up your group meeting details in any of the above, make sure to copy the link where people can join the meet-up and paste that into your meeting details.

Rules

By using this website feature you are agreeing to adhere to the following rules:

  1. Only focus on kettlebell workouts and training
  2. Dress appropriately; men should only take their shirt off if everyone is okay with that
  3. Prevent discussing politics or anything not related to kettlebell training
  4. Act professional and courteous
  5. Avoid profane language or curse words
  6. Each individual takes full responsibility of what happens during and as a result of a meet-up
  7. Do not use this feature as a dating site
  8. To not confuse our kettlebell community:
    • Only perform workouts from IKU™/Cavemantraining™ or those designed by an IKU™ Certified Kettlebell Trainer
    • Only work with technical information provided on our website
    • Never guide members to become part of another community

Focus

The focus of a meet-up has to be on kettlebell workouts or training, but of course, there is a period where people introduce themselves, ask how their day was, etc. This is normal while waiting to start the session, however, after this, the focus should not stray away from the topic.

Avoid Confusion and Dishonesty

These rules are designed to keep the focus where it started, where it belongs, and where you found your buddy. When these rules are broken we may discontinue access to our website.

To further explain, attempting to take someone away from the platform would be like going into a gym and asking their members to come and visit another gym. It’s not an honorable thing to do. If you found your buddy on IKU™ then that’s where he/she belongs until they want to explore other platforms on their own accord.
