Kettlebell Core & Shoulder Stability Workout
Here’s a little core and shoulder stability routine I’ve been working on lately. I usually do around 3 rounds, focusing on controlled movements, stability and proper technique rather than speed.
I combine three exercises:
1. Side-to-Side Plank Drag – 5-10 reps per side
Great for anti-rotation core strength. It mainly engages the abs, obliques, transverse abdominis, shoulders, serratus anterior and glutes. I try to keep my hips as stable as possible while dragging the kettlebell across.
2. North-to-South Plank Drag – 5-10 reps per side
This one challenges anti-extension stability and shoulder control. It works the abs, obliques, deltoids, serratus anterior, lats and glutes. I focus on keeping my core tight and avoiding unnecessary movement through my lower back.
3. Kettlebell Halo – 5-10 reps in each direction
One of my favourite movements for shoulder mobility and stability. It engages the deltoids, rotator cuff, traps, serratus anterior and core stabilisers. I keep the movement slow and controlled, without leaning or rotating my torso.
I usually take about 30–45 seconds of rest between rounds.
What I like about this combination is that I’m not just training my abs. I’m also working on shoulder stability, scapular control, coordination and overall core strength.
Nothing too complicated, just three exercises that complement each other really well.
P.S. I always record these videos after my heavy training sessions, so my breathing might sound a bit heavier than usual. I’ve actually never filmed myself doing these exercises while fresh. It’s alwa...
