There isn’t much information about Hardstyle Snatches on Kettlebell Monster, so I thought I’d share how I personally perform them and what I focus on when it comes to technique.
I focus on a more direct hand insertion, allowing the kettlebell to rotate smoothly around my hand rather than flipping over and hitting my forearm.
Hip Hinge & Explosiveness
I focus on generating explosive power through my hips rather than using my shoulders or arms to lift the kettlebell. The power comes primarily from the hip drive.
Hand Insertion & Wrist Position
I aim for smooth hand insertion at the top, avoiding excessive gripping, palm pinching, and unnecessary impact on the forearm. I also try to maintain a neutral wrist position, keeping my hand aligned with my forearm without excessive ulnar deviation.
Overhead Lockout
I focus on achieving a strong, stable overhead position with my arm fully extended, my shoulder properly engaged, and my torso as steady as possible.
Controlled Descent
I actively guide the kettlebell back into the next backswing, keeping it close to my body during the initial drop and maintaining control throughout the movement.
Rhythm & Consistency
I try to keep every repetition consistent, explosive, and controlled, without sacrificing technique as fatigue builds up.
I’ve been training with kettlebells for around 10 years, primarily focusing on strength, power conditioning, and hypertrophy rather than competition. I can also perform GS snatches using the corkscrew technique.
With proper technique, I personally don’t experience palm pinching, torn calluses, or forearm bruising when performing Hardstyle snatches. Tabata style workout weight - 20kg, POWER conditioning max weight -32kg.
