The palm of the hand is facing forward in the racking position and usually, this is paired with the bell (the round bit of the kettlebell) being positioned on the outside of the arm rather than on the inside and the handle lays horizontally within the palm rather diagonally (45-degree angle).
Solution
The hand insertion needs to happen correctly. An incorrect or lack of hand insertion can be because the kettlebell did not enter its ballistic flight (not enough speed) and the grip transition could not take place. For an easy grip transition, the kettlebell needs to enter its ballistic flight so the hand can be released and inserted as the weight keeps going up. The hand needs to be inserted into the top corner so that the bottom corner comes down placing the handle at a 45-degree angle. Think punching into the top corner.
Description
This issue can occur with any clean variation. Although there is a cradle-racking position where we see the palm(s), this is more advanced and should not be a topic to look into yet for beginners.
