Mistake

Placing the kettlebell too far from your feet for a dead clean or dead snatch.

Solution

Place the kettlebell where you can align your shoulders with your ankles or at least closer to it when looking side-on. This may mean that you need to squat deeper and/or bend the ankles more (dropping the knees forward).

Description

When the kettlebell is placed too far away from you the torso needs to lean forward more to reach it, this action moves the shoulders away from being above the ankles as much as possible which puts more load on the lower back and reduces the force that can be generated.

The following video(s) cover this common mistake.
