Dead Clean – Bell closer to feet to use legs to power the move

Correct by placing Bell between the feet and not in front will help with not leaning forward to do the dead clean movement.

    Severity:

    Moderate (2/4)

    Mistake

Leaning forward or over the kettlebell during the dead clean while nearing the end of the pull.

    Solution

Toward the end of the pull with the legs, the torso should be straight or slightly leaning back to use the body in the pull rather than the elbow flexors.

    Description

Leaning forward or over the weight nearing the end of the pull can be due to the weight being placed too far for the start of the pull, the weight being too heavy, or simply not focusing on the movement and position that the body should be in.

If the torso is forward then the shoulders are forward too, and over or past the kettlebell. If the torso is back then the shoulders are back too and this allows using the body weight to pull the kettlebell up and keeping the arm straight longer, this all results in being able to use more power and lift heavier weight.

The following video(s) cover this common mistake.
